Introduction & Instruction

The hostel is an essential part of campus life. To ensure the welfare and convenience of all residents, these rules and regulations have been established. All residents are expected to strictly adhere to these guidelines.

Instruction: Specific rules exist for facilities like the Music Room, Sports cum TV Room, and Study Room. Not following them may lead to fines, which may or may not be mentioned here. The detailed rules for those areas are additionally displayed in the respective areas.

1. General Conduct

  • Residents must maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and discipline.
  • Respect for fellow residents, staff, and hostel property is mandatory.
  • Hostel authorities may conduct periodic inspections of rooms and common areas (See Section 15).

2. Cleanliness and Hygiene

  • Littering in corridors, washrooms, dining halls, or any common area is strictly prohibited.
  • Residents must adhere to the waste segregation policy.
  • Hostel property, such as newspapers, chairs, and sofas must remain in their designated locations.
  • Unauthorised parking of bicycles is prohibited.
  • Repeated violations may attract increased fines.

3. Property Damage and Defacement

  • Pasting posters, drilling holes, or defacing walls, doors, or floors is not allowed.
  • Unauthorised shifting or removal of hostel furniture is prohibited.
  • Residents must report defective furniture to the Hall Manager for repairs.

4. Common Areas

  • Damages to common areas will be recovered from residents of the respective wing via mess bills.
  • Access to common rooms is permitted only through biometric authentication.
  • Usage for purposes other than designated requires prior permission.

5. Cooking and Electrical Appliances

  • Cooking inside hostel rooms is strictly prohibited.
  • High-power electrical appliances (e.g., induction cookers, heaters) are not allowed.

6. Room Allocation and Changes

  • Room shifting or modification is not permitted without prior approval.
  • The hostel may reassign rooms if necessary to maintain the occupancy policy.

8. Guest Stay and Visitation

Guest Stay

  • Overnight guest stay in rooms is prohibited.
  • Guest rooms are available on a payment basis with prior permission.

Female Visiting Hours

  • Permitted hours: 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
  • Entry must be recorded; residents must deposit ID cards with security.

9. Restricted Areas

  • Access to the terrace and refugee areas (8th and 9th floors) is prohibited.

11. Pets and Plants

12. Unauthorised Activities

13. Vacating the Hostel

  • Residents must submit the hostel vacating form before departure.
  • The hostel is not responsible for belongings left behind.

14. Room Security

  • Rooms must be locked when unattended.
  • The hostel is not responsible for the loss of unsecured personal property.

15. Inspections

Residents must fully cooperate during periodic room inspections by authorised staff.

16. Financial Responsibility

  • In cases where individual responsibility cannot be assigned, collective fines may be imposed on all residents of the affected area.

Fine Collection Process

  • Fines may be imposed by the Hall Manager, Staff Members, Counselors, or Wardens.
  • Fine details will be available on the ASC portal and residents will be notified via email.
  • Payment must be completed within 7 days of issuance.
  • Delayed payments may result in additional penalties or suspension of privileges.

Appeals and Grievance Redressal

  • Residents may appeal fines by submitting a written application or email to the General Secretary or Warden within 3 days.
  • Appeals will be reviewed and responded to within 7 days.
  • The Warden's decision will be final and binding.

Policy Amendments

  • These rules are subject to periodic review.
  • Amendments will be communicated in advance.
  • New fines or penalties may be imposed directly by the Hostel Administration, General Secretary, or Warden if necessary.
